Business networking and public relations go a step beyond your social media presence and website SEO. It’s your ultimate marketing plan. You are leveraging others for help in growing your business in return by providing something valuable for them and their audience.
When I say business networking, I don’t mean to go to a random event and talk to two or three people. Find others in your industry that share your same ideal customer and build partnerships with them. Partner with businesses in your industry that have different products or services but share your ideal customer. You will each already have relationships built with trust. The customers will appreciate the additional knowledge and resources.
With public relations, the media is always looking for good information to share with their audience. Start smaller with social media influencers. What opportunities are there for guest blog posts or being highlighted on a podcast. Whether it’s in a magazine, podcast, guest blog post, or even TV, think about the reach you will receive. What happens when your ideal customer picks up a copy of their favorite magazine (or reads it online) and sees your article? HARO, Help a Reporter Out, is another good place to start.
Take business networking and public relations seriously. This is a more efficient way to expand your reach and share your product or service with others than posting on social media every day. This should be your marketing goal with a plan on how you will achieve it.
